A horizontal solid tube furnace is made to process a certain sample size continuously and provides stable temperature zones throughout the furnace as needed; it is not as versatile as split tube furnaces.
Solid tube furnaces that are designated as “pass-through” furnaces are made to move a sample across one or more heating zones. The longer temperature zone in this setup contributes to its stability and improves homogeneity.
The working temperatures of a horizontal solid tube furnace can vary as high as 1700C. The metallic sheath components in the furnaces raise the temperature where it’s needed.
